A Haiku Story

Imprisoned Highway

gray-dressed; steel chains on one side

wood stakes the other

 

Vehicles like ants

crawl all over the convict

all day and all night

 

Racing across his

belly tumbleweeds tease him

with thoughts of freedom

 

Trains patrol the chains

ensuring the prisoner

will never escape

 

Breakout attempts seen

wooden stakes lean ev’rywhere

pushed by a friend…Wind
