A List Prose I did for the 2010 Summer Reading Program with the Meade Library

Blend into the scenery

Startling when suddenly they gently, loosely hop away

Expressing placid boredom on their faces

Huge eyes extremely aware

Most come out at night in droves when very young

Covering the ground like a carpet

Creating a strange sensation under your shoes

When you’re walking, not realizing until you slip and fall

Eat insects

Get eaten by monitor lizards and birds and snakes

Fill the night completely with their various tunes

Pipping, piping, plopping, peeping, creaking and booming

Especially around the water nearby
