People’s Amazing Driving Behavior

Like they’re the only one in the world

Like if there’s another car it’s a figment of their imagination

Pass 18-wheelers into oncoming traffic

Move into my lane as if I weren’t there

Get furious when registering they’re not alone

Honk crazily, as if my five-miles-over-the-speed-limit is slow

Give me the angry eyes, distorted face, waving hands

As if the road was for their pleasure only, no one else’s

And I’m thinking, “Wow! Without other people

we would not have these nice highways and freeways,

we’d still be walking dirt paths, riding horses,

bumping around in stage coaches and wagons.”
